About this Event

The Soundtrack: Pop Up Poetry Experience

The Soundtrack: Voices of Noirleans! An Ambient Spoken Word Gathering | St. Noir Café

The Soundtrack is a softly curated evening of spoken word, poetry, and reflection woven into the natural rhythm of St. Noir Café. This is not a traditional open mic or performance, it’s an offering of sound designed to live alongside conversation, coffee, work, and presence.

Throughout the evening, community voices will share short, intentional pieces, words that rise and settle like music in the room. There is no stage, no microphone, and no expectation of full audience attention. Guests are welcome to listen, continue their conversations, work quietly, or simply be in the space. Listening is participation.

Rooted in the spirit of New Orleans, The Soundtrack honors the city’s tradition of storytelling, resilience, and communal expression. In alignment with Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend, the gathering centers reflection, service, and shared humanity...held gently and without spectacle.

What to expect:

Ambient spoken word and poetry

Soft, café-friendly volume and flow

Optional on-site sign-up for brief (2–3 minute) shares

Normal café service throughout the evening

This is a free gathering. Guests are encouraged to support St. Noir Café during their visit. There will also be an optional opportunity to quietly support a small grassroots effort in the St. Roch community.

Hosted by Jeanette Irvin, poet, educator, and author of The Senator’s Daughter.
