The truth is in the faders.
We’re back for round two of The Sound Society — AAA Vinyl Coffee House & Bar’s monthly deep dive into the art (and occasional chaos) of live sound. Think less “lecture with slides” and more “stories, gin, and faders moving under pressure.”
This month, we’re tuning into the world of Alison Moyet — not through a playlist or polite applause, but through her actual live multitrack recordings, remixed in real time. These are the raw, unpolished takes — the versions most people will never hear again. Or never heard in the first place. Totally live. In the moment.
Guiding you through it all is Dave Swallow, tour veteran and live sound engineer, who’s spent a career balancing brilliance and bedlam from behind the console. He’ll walk you through how Alison’s sound is built, shaped, and sometimes held together with nothing but caffeine and sheer willpower.
Expect:
🎚 Live mixing from Alison’s real show recordings
🎤 Stories from the road — the bits that never make the interviews
🎧 A rare listen into how we built her live sound (and why it mattered)
💿 Amy’s favourites on the jukebox before and after
🍸 A gin in your hand. A goosebump down your spine.
No sound-geek credentials required — just curiosity, open ears, and a love for music that’s alive, unrepeatable, and gloriously human.
The Sound Society.
Because the real truth isn’t in the playlist — it’s in the mix.
