How do you solve a problem like Maria? The answer is to send her from the convent where she is hoping to become a nun to look after the von Trapp children. She is an instant hit and eventually falls in love with their father, the Captain. But this is 1938, the time of the Anschluss when Nazi Germany seized the family's native Austria. The Captain is told to report to the navy, but he hates the Nazis and they plot to escape to Switzerland. Can they make it across the mountains? This is a true story of the family that became a singing legend. The songs? You can hum them all - from "My Favourite Things" to "Doh Re Mi", from "Climb Every Mountain" to "Edelweiss" and, of course, the title song, "The Sound of Music". A great evening is promised, of one of the best loved musicals ever written.
