Celebrating Twan Mack’s Legacy: The Sound of Kareem City Tribute ConcertOn January 11, 2025, Milwaukee will come together to honor the life and legacy of Twan Mack, the visionary founder of Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop. The free event, The Sound of Kareem City: A Tribute to Twan Mack, will take place at The Cooperage MKE, and will celebrate the profound impact Twan had on both the local and global Hip-Hop community.
Twan Mack, a pioneering artist and community leader, reshaped the landscape of Hip-Hop with his genre, Adult Contemporary Hip-Hop—an art form that blended conscious lyrics with mature themes. His music, often described as “mental food,” tackled topics like financial literacy, history, and self-awareness, while promoting social responsibility. As a member of Kali Tribe, Twan was instrumental in putting Milwaukee on the national map during the 1990s, and his collaborations with artists like Arrested Development, Cypress Hill, and KRS-One helped spread his message worldwide.
The tribute event will feature over 25 live performances, including artists like BLAX, Dame Ellzey, DJ DRiPSweat, and many others, along with a special virtual tribute from Speech of Arrested Development. All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting Twan’s mother, who he was lovingly caring for before his passing. Fans are also invited to contribute to a documentary chronicling Twan’s impact through crowd-sourced video footage.
Join us to celebrate Kareem City and keep Twan Mack’s powerful message alive!
