About this Event
Helga Dittmar is a member of The Ringmer Artist Collective; East Sussex Guild of Dyers, Spinners, & Weavers; TAG
This workshop has a Part 1 (pre-lunch) and a Part 2 (post-lunch) format, of two hours each.
Helga learnt to knit when she was 5 Years, from her mother, who ran a tiny knitwear cottage business in a German village in the Black Forest.
Helga will bring special (German) sock wool, suitable knitting needles, and detailed Note Sheets with photographs. The pattern, made by her mother originally, has been refined over the years. It consists of two parts:
(1) Start with Casting On, and Knitting a Round Tube, to ankle-length
(2) Move on to knitting the Heel Flap, then Turning the Heel with the Short-Rows Technique, and Picking Stitches Up to return to a knitted tube, Ending with Shaping the Toes, and Completing the Sock.
The aim is for you to have turned the heel during the workshop, and to feel confident about how to complete the sock at home.
Including the Materials, the Sheets, and a booklet with further sock knitting suggestions, the 4-hour workshop will cost £25.
