Three drummers--one of the DMV's top drum techs, one of the DMV's top sound engineers and one of the DMV's giggingest drum teachers--unite for an afternoon discussing...SNARE DRUMS! How do you tune your snare? What kind of heads are the best? What kind of snare wires? Dos and Don'ts for maintenance and repair? Tape? Gels? Drops? Wallets? Tips, tricks and techniques for getting the best sounds on stage or in the studio? Vintage vs. modern? Affordable vs. boutique? Wood vs. metal? Chris Martin, Sean Russell and Ben Tufts get together at Vanguard Arts Center to attempt to answer all these questions and more.
A few lucky guests will even get to have their drums looked at by the Snare Doctors (get in touch beforehand if you have a sick or even dead snare--it might just be MOSTLY dead!)
This event is open to the public, registration is $10. (Vanguard students get in for free.) Ticketing info forthcoming!
