Tuesdays, 7pm, in the rectory meeting roomWe are all familiar with the Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, either through the books or movies.
The Silmarillion is another of his great literary works, which tells the history of what happened before the Lord of the Rings.
Unlike Harry Potter, or Game of Thrones, Tolkien’s works are not simply fantasy but are full of rich Catholic theology.
Starting on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 7pm, in the rectory meeting room, we will begin our study of The Silmarillion. The specific theme that will be studied and that Tolkien clearly contemplates throughout this whole work is the problem of evil and how we can still have hope even when evil seems to be winning.
To come to this course, you do not have to have read any of his works, as we will be walking through the book chapter by chapter.
Everyone is welcome.
