Open Mic: Showcase.Bridging the gap between a new open mic musician and a professional gigging musician! Come hone your skills and showcase your music! Sponsored by Sets in the City. Show Up. Show Off. Show Love. Come ready with two (2) cover songs, one (1) original and one backup song. Artist have at least 10 minutes, with the chance for more.

6:55 Artist Preshow Meeting with Rafael 7-8p Set One [6 acts] Intermission 810-9p Set Two [5 acts] 9-940 Set Three [4 acts] / Wild Card Round (If acts dont use full 9 mins) 940: Featured Act + Awards (must be present to win) Wild Card Round: If after the 15 acts perform there is time before our featured act, we will pull names from the remaining artists who signed up, or redraw from the acts who have performed already. One song. Featured Act: One artist will be chosen to be our Featured Act at the next Showcase (15 minute headlining set)
Open Mic: Showcase (vs Open Mic, regular) Nine (9) minute set. Create a medley or throw in the backstory of you and your music. Acts may be live streamed, so artists must give permission for use of content and likeness Maximum 4 inputs, two artists on stage at a time. No Music Stands or Lyrics on Stage Artist must bring instrument* Instruments will not be Mic’d (must have pickups) *3/1 show will have a piano from featured artist Paloma Tahn
What is “ The Showcase” 1. With “The Showcase” Rafael Unplugged and Roger B&R aims to be the next step in a new musicians path, where you want more time on stage and where the standards and the stakes are a bit higher.
2. We are asking for a nine (9) minute set, giving you the opportunity to practice it to the minute. No lyrics or music stands allowed on stage. Set must be memorized. Setlist on the floor is allowed.
3. We are going to attempt to livestream the event, so that your performance lives online. We reserve the right deny any requests to take down video’s from a lack luster performance. If you are not ready for the performance, sign up for next months Showcase. Come back when you are - and we’d love to help you get a great recording of that performance.
4. The expectation is to stay and watch all performers, but during the mixer we will show you how you as an audience member can help a fellow artist with their content and socials, and we can all help grow each others brands.
5. Win something! If you are chosen as the act of the evening, you will feature at the next open mic. Also, we're reaching out to sponsors who will hopefully be donating prizes to the winning act, and some of the participating acts who do not win the feature. 6. Get a chance to be featured in Sets in the City - run by Rafael unplugged, or be one of our rotating artists for Roger Bar and Restaurant Fresh Fridays - live music, every Friday.
