After years of planning and construction, we are thrilled to announce that our new, accessible, entrance into The Shedd will be open to the public shortly after the New Year! This new front door will be open 345 days a year, at all hours of operation, opening directly from our parking lot on the north.Please join us for a grand Ribbon-Cutting and Open House on Saturday, January 17th, 11:00am, to kick off a full year of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the original building constructed in 1926 plus our own 35th anniversary.
The ceremony will start with a few words from elected officials and community leaders, and then we will welcome everyone into the building to explore all the things (old and new) The Shedd has to offer. It will be an opportunity to check out all of the renovations, the new front-door elevator, gorgeous classrooms, performance halls, gathering spaces -- and even to get a little lost in The Shedd! Kids can fill out a Bingo Card to discover and play on at least 8 different instruments that day.
Join us to celebrate this major milestone for this unique cultural resource for our region!
[note: Please park in the large lot across the street at 7th & Pearl. It is free for Shedd events on weekends and evenings!]
