Participants will learn how to:
- Develop confidence in speaking publicly.
- Structure and deliver compelling narratives about their creative work.
- Use voice, tone, and body language effectively.
- Overcome stage fright and anxiety.
- Engage different audiences, from funders to public performances.
About the Facilitator
Sam is Artistic Director of Green Shoes Arts, a local grassroots arts and wellbeing charity based in Chadwell Heath. GSA works with people of all ages and backgrounds from across the borough, improving mental and physical health through creative activity.
Sam has a background as a stage director and acting tutor, and specialises in developing performance-related skills in people who don’t have a background in acting, improving confidence and self-expression through actor training. He was previously Youth Theatre Director for Tramshed and Nuffield Southampton Theatres, and Head of Acting at Identity School of Acting. He still teaches acting at both a professional and amateur level alongside his work at GSA.
The core of his approach to actor training is based on the belief that acting - and public speaking - are natural human abilities that anyone can unlock with practice, a small amount of training… and a little confidence!
