About this Event
The Trump administration is dismembering San Francisco’s immigration court, having fired more than a quarter of the court’s immigration judges since the beginning of the year.
Join two recently fired immigration judges, Judge Shira Levine and Judge Kyra Lilien, as they recount the difficulties in administering the law under the current president. Also joining will be longtime immigration judge Dana Leigh Marks, who argued and won a seminal immigration law case before the Supreme Court and was head of the national immigration judges’ union for 14 years before retiring in 2021.
The judges will talk about how things have changed behind the scenes at immigration court since Trump took office again, what the nationwide attack on immigration judges means for the rule of law, and how to make our immigration legal system more just and more insulated from the power of the president.
This panel discussion will be moderated by San Francisco Standard reporter Jesse Alejandro Cottrell.
