** REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT MUST BE COMPETED ON THE LIBRARY EVENT CALENDAR HERE: https://sandwichpubliclibrary.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/reserved-for-adult-program-64/Join us for a very special musical performance of an original suite composed by Indigenous (Tlingit) artist Kim Moberg that tells the ancient yet relevant Anishinaabe legend in song. The hour long performance will include a short talk by Moberg, a brief video by Canadian Indigenous artist Erin Stagg (whose painting is used for the album cover art), followed by the live concert performed by Kim and local fiddler/violist Heather Swanson.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: Many years ago the Anishinaabe people of Turtle Island were visited by prophets who offered predictions about the future of humanity. Each prediction addressed a specific period in time and was referred to as a “fire”. This timely legend teaches the importance of living with respect for people of all colors and cultures in addition to living in harmony with our environment.
This program is appropriate for all ages, but best suited for ages 7 and up. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Sandwich Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
