Die dritte und letzte Ausgabe der Sephardischen Dialoge (ermöglicht durch die Ensembleförderung NRW) bringt zwei musikalische Welten zusammen: The Sephardics, Preisträger der renommierten Ruth 2019, treffen auf den international gefeierten New Yorker Musiker, Komponisten und Klangforscher Elliott Sharp.

Für eine Woche entwickeln die Künstler*innen gemeinsam einen einzigartigen Sound, der traditionelle sephardische Lieder in einen innovativen, genreübergreifenden Kontext stellt. Dabei treffen jahrhundertealte Melodien und Geschichten auf Sharps unverwechselbare musikalische Sprache, geprägt von Improvisation, Experimentierfreude und avantgardistischer Klanggestaltung.
Diese Kooperation verspricht ein intensives Zusammenspiel von Tradition und Innovation – ein Highlight für Liebhaber*innen sephardischer Musik und experimenteller Klangwelten gleichermaßen.
Nach der Zusammenarbeit mit der kurdish-electro-disco-Band BIENSÜRE aus Marseille im Jahr 2023 sowie den beiden herausragenden Musikern Oren Ambarchi und Ramesh Shotham im Jahr 2024 setzen The Sephardics nun einen weiteren Höhepunkt in ihrer musikalischen Reise.

The third and final edition of the Sephardic Dialogues (made possible by the Ensembleförderung NRW) brings two musical worlds together: The Sephardics, winners of the prestigious Ruth 2019, meet the internationally acclaimed New York musician, composer and sound researcher Elliott Sharp.

For one week, the artists will work together to develop a unique sound that places traditional Sephardic songs in an innovative, cross-genre context. Centuries-old melodies and stories meet Sharp’s unmistakable musical language, characterized by improvisation, experimentation and avant-garde sound design.
This collaboration promises an intense interplay of tradition and innovation – a highlight for lovers of Sephardic music and experimental soundscapes alike.
After the collaboration with the Kurdish-electro-disco band BIENSÜRE from Marseille in 2023 and the two outstanding musicians Oren Ambarchi and Ramesh Shotham in 2024, The Sephardics are now setting another highlight in their musical journey.
