The Seat Beside Her 3: Stories of the Revolution by local playwright Betsy Maguire provides a unique perspective on the significant yet often overlooked contributions of women in shaping American history. This engaging and witty 75-minute production is narrated by Simsbury's own historical celebrity, Abigail Pettibone, and recounts tales of patriotism during a time when women's roles were very much in the background. Follow along as characters share how they worked to secure America's freedom.
The production is a Simsbury 250th Celebration Committee event. Evening performance dates are Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. An afternoon performance will take place on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held in the Garmany Performing Arts Center at The Goodrich at McLean, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury.
Tickets cost $20 each. Funds raised will be used to support upcoming 250th events to commemorate our country's historic milestone.
