The Sea Quill: A Night of Original Writing

Is The Moth in LA just too far? Can’t wait for a trip to New York for a book reading?

We are excited to announce the debut of a storytelling event in Laguna Beach, The Sea Quill …!

The writing community of South Orange County is invited to join us for an evening of original short stories, true or fiction, memoir, or book excerpts, at the first storytelling event hosted by author, Dani Fankhauser (@danifankhauser). At The Sea Quill we hope to create a community of sharing great stories with local writers and readers. This first event will feature storytelling by playwright and actress Heather Tyson (Title Pending), writer Rebecca Harris, and Stephanie Bogaert, a veteran of @vancouverstoryslam and LA’s @untold_theshow.

10 writers will share their selected work for up to 6 minutes each.

Writers wishing to share their work will be selected by lottery 15 minutes before the event begins.

Place: The Cove Coworking Space, 1105A N. Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach. CA

Date: February 26, 2026

Time: 7 pm-9 pm; Readings begin at 7:30

Cut off to submit your name at the event to read/share: 7:15 pm

Space is limited and we expect this event to sell out!

We know many people have stories to share! 6 minutes for each writer is your limit. Be prepared. This is an inclusive space for original storytelling. Please save your music, props, stand up, logos, and politics for a different venue.
