This February, audiences are invited to witness one of the most daring and provocative works in American musical theatre: Kander and Ebb’s The Scottsboro Boys, running February 5–15, 2026 at the historic Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts.
Created by legendary musical theatre duo John Kander and Fred Ebb — the minds behind Chicago and Cabaret — The Scottsboro Boys boldly reexamines the true story of nine Black teenagers falsely accused of rape in 1931 Alabama. The musical exposes the brutality of systemic racism while indicting the structures that allowed such injustices to persist.
This production is directed and choreographed by Kevin Lee-Y Green, whose work is known for its physical precision, emotional depth, and commitment to socially urgent storytelling.
Through its razor-sharp score, virtuosic performances, and unapologetic theatrical language, the musical demands attention and refuses indifference.
This production brings together a dynamic cast of performers whose talent and courage bring urgency and humanity to a story too often marginalized or forgotten. The Scottsboro Boys emerges as both a historical reckoning and a contemporary call to awareness.
