About this Event
Why do the leaves of some trees turn spectacular colors in the fall while those of other trees don’t? Why do some trees turn red, while others turn orange, or gold, or just go brown? Join WVLT Board member Dr. William Schuster and ISA Certified Arborist Erik Richards on Saturday October 19 for a discussion of scientific findings on how and why leaves turn colors, followed by a walk with them on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to see firsthand the colorful evidence of how different trees prepare for the winter season ahead. Meet at 10:30 AM at the Gardiner Library for an initial presentation and discussion, and then the walk along the Rail Trail will end back at the Library around noon. Rain date will be at the same time on Saturday October 26.
