About this Event
The Saxophone Congress & 2's music is an eclectic smorgasbord of creative saxophone and assorted woodwind stylings, sometimes featuring three baritone saxes, and a powerhouse rhythm section of electric guitar and drums.
They will be performing music of some of the great Masters of Jazz, including Charles Mingus, Duke Ellington, and a very special set of the music of Carla Bley. The band members have all been performing with many popular Bay Area groups (Mo' Fone, Lavay Smith, Mitch Woods and his Rocket 88s, Macy Blackman & the Mighty Fines, Boca do Rio, New Squatoolas, Kotoja, Steve Lucky and the Rhumba Bums), as well many national and international musical groups. Their performances combine unusual arrangements with a sense of surprise and imagination.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door general admission; $15 for students with ID. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door before the show.
Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own food and beverages. The venue is ADA accessible. If you need more information or have any questions, please call us: #510-381-1997.
