About this Event
In it's second year running, the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation (SMF) are excited to be brining you the Sanjay Mortimer RepRap Festival (SMRRF) - the UK's hottest 3D printing event of the year. This year, we will be hosting it in Manchester, UK in partnership with PrintCity of Manchester Metroplitan University and all proceeds will go to support neurodiverse young adults who find an outlet in engineering and STEM activities.
RepRap festivals are a spectacular celebration of community level open source projects, true to the ethos started by Adrian Bowyer MBE over a decade ago at Bath University.
This event is for everyone. If you've never experienced 3D printing before then we encourage you to come along and immerse yourself in the world of 3D printing, we promise you won't look back! If you're a regular attendee of RepRap festivals then this is the perfect opportunity to come and hang out in a safe space with like-minded people. Not to mention the best place to get a first glimpse of your favourite 3D printing company's latest tech or discover hobbyists' game-changing inventions that will go on to set new industry standards. RepRap truly is the source of the modern 3D printing boom.
Bound together with brilliant keynote talks from industry experts, meeting your favourite influencers, spectating or taking part in Sam Prentice's infamous RC robots wars, plus tonnes more, this event is not one to be missed.
Sponsors last year included E3D, Prusa Research, Voron, Duet3D, DiamondBack, F3DM, Polymaker, 3D FilaPrint, Cocoa Press, BigTreeTech, Project R3D, Zaribo, LDO Motors, Bambu Lab, Zaxe, Printed Solid, OneTwo3D, VzBot Technology Outlet, 3D Prima, PeoPoly, Siboor & Cookiecad and we hope that they, plus more will join us again this year.
Sponsorship options vary from Platinum right down to display only so if you're after a table to display your proudest creations or you fancy bringing your printer along to the event do drop us a line at [email protected].
Who is Sanjay Mortimer?
Sanjay Mortimer was a co-founder of E3D and a true visionary within the 3D printing community who tragically passed away in late 2021. Sanjay's passion for FDM 3D printing shone through with every interaction and his passing left the community with heavy hearts. Sanjay's legacy had to live on and this is where the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation (SMF) was born.
Neurodivergent minds have been shown to be associated with creativity, innovation, and risk-taking, all of which are critical skills for engineers to tackle the challenges of the future. Despite this, they remain highly underrepresented in engineering majors, which makes them significantly less likely to enter engineering careers.
The SMF aims to help neurodiverse individuals, interested in engineering and STEM, realise where their talents and strengths lie. Enabling them to shape their perceived belief in their abilities, thus building self-esteem and confidence, in the hope that they will go on to impact their chosen field and help define its evolution…just like Sanjay. The foundation works with organisations or 'Collaborators' (universities, shools, makerspaces, etc) to find their SMF 'Stars' and then issue support in the form of funding, resources, work experience, training etc.
All proceeds from SMRRF will go directly to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation.
