TIX: https://bansheesbar.com.au/event/saltysirenspresentfebRoll on down to Banshees Bar for a night of sea shanties and celtic trad disco with Amaidí and The Salty Sirens.
Lovers of swell sea shanties and rollicking singalongs, The Salty Sirens are Kristy Capstanfield (vocals and accordion) and Elyse Fishpatrick (vocals and whale facts). Throughout 2024, they rocked boats the country wide with their flavour of sea shanties, SHE shanties and sea songs with a modern, queer twist, and now these sapphic sailors are sailing into Ipswich to lead you on a musical journey through traditional and modern nautical folk song, tales of shipwork, daring adventure, defiance and debauchery on the high seas. Hoist the anchor and limber up those sealegs - these really aren't your grandpa's sea shanties!
The Salty Sirens are proud to present their musical mateys of trad disco renown, Amaidí.
Amaidí (AM-uh-jee) ~ “Folly; Nonsense”. (Brisbane, Australia) A band steeped in Irish traditional music. They're the world's leading celtic band, that is, in terms of the number of effects pedals they bring to the stage. Four exceptionally talented and award winning multi-instrumentalists combine forces to produce a spectacular performance. Whether it’s a beautiful slow air, or a pumping jig or song, these lads produce a rich and modern take on the music of Ireland.
They've just returned from bringing down the house (dance tent) at the Woodford Folk Festival with packed out trisco (trad disco) concerts and bush dances. Now they're sailing into Ipswich, and they're ready to melt your hearts with spirited renditions of classic folk songs and melt your faces off with their dizzying tunes.
