Join Anand, a student of legendary Indian classical Dhrupad vocalist Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar, will present a unique program of Buddhist suttas in a bouquet of ragas, and see how they speak to Kabir and Babasaheb Ambedkar in establishing the norm, or Sa, of equality. The concert will be followed by a short Q&A with the artist, Anand and Laura Rebecca Brueck, Professor of South Asian and Comparative Literature and Co-Director of the Race, Caste, and Colorism Project

Bio:
Anand is a student of Dhrupad with Ustad F. Wasifuddin Dagar who was trained in his youth in Carnatic music. He is better known as the publisher at Navayana. He writes poems in English and Hindi, translates poetry from many languages, and sets old Indian poems to ragas. He is the co-author of Bhimayana and has annotated the critical editions of B.R. Ambedkar’s Annihilation of Caste and Riddles in Hinduism. He collaborated with Venkat Raman Singh Shyam on Finding My Way. Anand lives in New Delhi.
