The 2nd Annual East Vincent Township trail race and community nature walk is coming this fall with something for everyone! Community nature walk plus 4 mile, 8 mile, 3 hour, and 6 hour trail running over diverse terrain through a picturesque, natural park!
Indy Trail at Independence Park in East Vincent Township is a 2 mile loop with 272’ of elevation and, in 2025, the Rugged Indy will be run clockwise starting at the park pavilion in Independence Drive.
MEADOW (.47 mi)
After an initial narrow start, double track descends down and through an open mowed-grass valley where sparse clusters of trees provide protection in an area rich with wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for fox, possum, skunks, a plethora of PA bird species and the several herds of deer who live in the park.
CANOPY (.42 mi)
Following a sprint past Pennhurst Cemetery and the first aide station, the trail becomes narrower and the vegetation more dense until it is tunneled single track created by twisted honeysuckle where you’ll navigate tight single track until you come to a short but rough trailhead descent.
CONNECTOR (.18 mi)
Parelleling North Church Street, this section starts tight and twisty and opens up to reveal the valley where you'll descend, ascent and go back down to cross the creek to enter the forest all in less than two tenths of a mile.
FOREST (.35 mi)
A thickly wooded mostly single track trail with some wider spots for passing. You’ll aascend beneath giant tulip poplars, white oaks and towering hickory trees, descend along a picturesque stream, then climb back up for several punchy climbs and off-camber challenges.
HABITAT (.58 mi)
After an initial climb out of the forest valley, the dense giants transition to smaller trees and thickets where and a flatter course allows for faster travel but the trail is mostly narrow in this section until you get back into the field.
Indy Trail is open for hiking and pre-running prior to the Rugged Indy on November 16 and the trail map can be found here:
