Exit Plans and Cutting Rope is a deep dive into navigating emergency situations in rope. Whether on the floor or in the air, physical techniques or considering the emotional aftermath, this two-part intensive will provide value to ropesters of all skill levels and roles.

Part One: Core Skills and Cutting on the Ground (All Levels) – This session focuses on essential soft skills, negotiation ideas, good habits to form, and some very helpful points for when tensions are high and every second counts. Participants will also learn fundamental techniques to build confidence and good habits in rope emergencies.

Part Two: Suspensions and Cutting Uplines – Designed for those with prior rope experience, this session delves deeper into planning ahead, safe(r) harness and upline ideas, quick-releases, first-up-last-down concepts, and more intermediate to advanced techniques for suspensions. Participants will have the opportunity for a supervised suspension “emergency” and will learn many valuable pointers to feel safer and more confident in a crisis.

Tickets are sold as either “Part One” or “Whole Day” as we are requesting those participating in Part Two attend Part One.

Twisted Monk has graciously sponsored donated rope for individuals who would NOT like to cut their own rope for this intensive! Please contact the Rope Collective or NRG before the class to secure a few quarter-length ropes for this class.

Part One:

No Required Prerequisites (although "Foundations of Rope" course prior is highly recommended*)

Part Two:

“Foundations of Rope” *or equivalent, required*

“Floor Series: Body Mechanics” *highly recommended, not required”

“Fly Series 1: Hip Harnesses for Suspension” *highly recommended, not required”

“Fly Series 2: Chest Harnesses for Suspension” *highly recommended, not required”

“Fly Series 3: Off The Ground” *highly recommended, not required”

Recommended Foreknowledge:

Part One:

Basic knowledge of foundations/ soft skills including informed consent, negotiation, aftercare. Basic Safety risk knowledge including nerve impingement and loss of circulation.

Part Two:

Intermediate knowledge of foundations/ soft skills including: informed consent, negotiation, aftercare. Intermediate Safety risk knowledge including nerve impingement and loss of circulation.
