So, how is AI currently being used to accelerate the shift to electrification and how can it help consumers on their own personal decarbonisation journey? What potential does AI hold for the future of the sector, and what risks and opportunities need to be kept in mind? Join us for a panel discussion where industry leaders will address these questions and share their insights on the role of AI in the net zero transition.

Rory Cellan-Jone, previous reporter for BBC tech, FTI advisor


Rory Cellan-Jones was a reporter for the BBC for 40 years, covering business and technology stories for much of that time. At the beginning of 2007 he was appointed Technology Correspondent with a brief to expand the BBC’s coverage of the impact of the internet on business and society. His first big story was the unveiling of the iPhone by Steve Jobs in San Francisco. In 2001 his first book “Dot Bomb”, a critically acclaimed account of Britain’s dot com bubble, was published. In 2021 “Always On: Hope and Fear in the Social Smartphone Era’ documented his experiences reporting on the smartphone era. In recent years he has investigated the role technology can play in improving the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease, having been diagnosed with the condition in 2019. Since leaving the BBC, he has become an independent technology consultant - including as a Senior Advisor at FTI Consulting, writer and broadcaster.

Jonathan Thurlwell, Principal AI Policy Lead at Ofgem


Jonathan is a member of Ofgem’s taskforce looking at the impact of AI on energy regulation. He is a strategic adviser to senior decision-makers in government, regulators and businesses on complex energy transition issues. Jonathan draws on almost three decades of policy and regulatory experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors in the UK and internationally.

Crystal has more than two decades as an experienced Technology and Data Leader and advisor having held CTO, VP, and Senior Director roles in a broad set of industries from early stage startups to large mature enterprises across Media and Broadcasting, Technology, Dev Security, Publishing, and Energy sectors. For the past 8 years, she has led and worked with Data Science teams leveraging AI and Machine Learning to scale platforms globally, and pushing new techniques to industry. Currently she is CTO at Zoa, a green energy start up with a mission for everyone to electrify their homes to accelerate our path to Net Zero, where she heads up Technology and Data Science.

Guilherme is a Senior Manager within Faculty's Energy Transition and Environment team, enabling clients to deliver on their net-zero ambitions by implementing bespoke AI solutions to tackle their most complex challenges. He brings over 10 years of diverse experience, from designing and monitoring public policies in Brazil to driving innovative business models and energy solutions across global scale-ups like Octopus Energy and Dataiku. His journey has earned him recognition from prestigious industry bodies, including the World Energy Council's Future Energy Leaders programme and being named Young Energy Professional of the Year in 2022 by the Energy Institute.
