Hudson Valley Boot Camp has joined with Rumshock Veterans Foundation to host a 5k run or walk to benefit Rumshock Veterans Foundation. The run will take place on the beautiful Heritage Trail in Goshen, NY
The fundraiser is in honor of Terry Anderson.
Back in 1985 he was held hostage by Hezbollah in the Middle East for nearly 7 years. Terry was abducted in Beirut on March 16, 1985, after playing tennis with an AP colleague. Islamist militants held him for more than six years — as part of an operation to negotiate prisoner swaps — an ordeal he survived in part due to “stubbornness.”
Terry once remarked, “You wake up every day. You summon up energy from somewhere. I don’t know how,” but you do. Terry was held captive the longest.
Terry described being beaten and chained, enduring months of silence and years without sunlight. He was released in 1991.
Terry embodied what Resilience is: the ability to bounce back in the face of challenges, losses and adversity.
The resilient person harnesses inner strengths and rebounds quickly from setbacks such as transitions, illness, trauma, or the death of a loved one. Resilience is also the ability to self-soothe during these difficult times.
The ability to successfully adapt to stressors, maintaining psychological well-being in the face of adversity.
Please join us in honoring this hero and show us your resilience!
