You are invited to a staged reading of my play, The Rescue Trial. The Rescue Trial is a historical fiction play that takes place in the free state of Massachusetts a year after the Fugutive Slave Act of 1850 was signed into law.
Play Synposis:
While writing about the federal court case of local freedom fighter, Lewis Hayden, for their father's newspaper, The North Star, sibilings, Rosetta and Henry Douglass, discover that slave catchers have come to town, threatening the safety and security of free born and formerly enslaved Black people alike.
