SpOAKen Word Lewes is the new, monthly poetry night at the Royal Oak in Lewes.Each month, we have a guest poet, an open mic section, and some ranting, rhyming and revolting from host and Lewes resident Janine Booth. We also have a stall selling books and merchandise from our contributors.
November's guest headliner is Peter deGraft-Johnson, a British-born Ghanaian, broadcaster, writer and Hip Hop artist known by The Repeat Beat Poet. Peter hosts the leading poetry organisations Pen-Ting Poetry, a Hip Hop & Poetry open mic and the Lunar Poetry Podcast, which is archived in the British Library. His debut pamphlet Testaments To Life & Death will be published by Verve Poetry Press in February 2022
All are welcome. There is no fixed entry charge, but we ask you to make a donation and recommend £5.
