Our political turmoil has deep historical roots. Although the Constitution ensured church-state separation, many American secular principles stem from Calvinist theology. In this talk, Professor Curt Collier examines how 300 years later, hidden theological influences may be blocking progress toward a brighter future. Curt Collier is the Leader of the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, where he facilitates workshops and capacity-building training for over 45 organizations each year. For the past 19 years, he has supported community stakeholders in developing resilient and sustainable nonprofit organizations. He also leads a monthly grant writing workshop and has established career pipelines for diverse young adults across 20 cities and 25 national parks. Collier serves as an ongoing consultant to the National Park Service and other federal agencies, and he is the founder of the Ethical Society of Austin. Additionally, he is adjunct faculty at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
