Love reading but not into group chats or book club debates?
Welcome to The Quiet Chapter - a peaceful, no-pressure relaxed reading club for people who just want to read, sip something lovely, and enjoy some headspace.Here's how it flows:
7:00–7:30pm Arrive, grab your drink, find your spot. Browse books from Sam’s teardrop library or just enjoy the calm.
7:30–8:30pm Phones off. Voices down. It’s an hour of silent reading—just you, your book (or e-reader), and the gentle stillness of a distillery setting.
8:30–9:00pm Unwind a little longer. Talk about what you’ve read (if you fancy), top up your drink, or simply sit in peace.
This event is hosted in collaboration with Sam from Fiction Prescription, a bibliotherapist who shares the healing power of books. While she won’t be running full sessions on the night, Sam be around to chat, offer gentle book recommendations or loans from her library for the evening, and maybe even prescribe your next perfect read.
What to bring:
- Your current read (or borrow one from Sam’s curated library)
- A pillow, rug, blanket, or anything to sit on that helps you get cosy
- Yourself - exactly as you are
If the weather’s kind, we’ll read outside under the trees.
Tickets £10 – includes one drink from a selection of Wyrd Spirits and mixers, think small-batch, hand crafted gins, rum and vodka. Prefer something non-alcoholic? No problem!
Optional extras: more drinks available, plus the opportunity to purchase one of Sam's beautiful book bags, or even book a personal online Fiction Prescription.
