Get excited for the first Quarterly Mullet of 2025! For those of us who are new to this: The Quarterly Mullet is a community affair with business in the front and party in the back! Join in to share your gifts, discuss what we want to see in our community and what we want to build together, and of course have an awesome time celebrating with friends new and old.
The Quarterly Mullet began in 2024 – a year where we achieved so much, such as opening the lovely new CoLab, getting YouTopia back in stellar style, and more. This year, we are gearing up to plan our beloved Burning Man Regional event YouTopia once again. We are actively working on SDCAP infrastructure and connecting with all of you to see how we can best serve the interests and dreams of our community members. And we are jumpstarting initiatives to fund CoLab so we can continue building and offering really cool classes, tools and creative support.
So, this is the time to think about how we can all Spring into Action! Tell us, what should we be doing? How can you help? We are off to a fantastic start, and we’re not going to stop here!
For the event:
TOWN HALL:
- This is happening 3-4PM!!!
- SDCAP & CoLab, and other community members, have so many exciting updates to share with you!
- At the town hall, you will hear a briefing on what we’ve accomplished together with your help so far. And, we will outline what the current plans are and what we are hoping to achieve this year.
- But most importantly – we need you to spring into action! Tell us what you want to see! What things can we be doing? What ideas do you have that can really amp things up? We need your input so we can do our best work!!
POTLUCK:
- Bring your favorite meals and snacks to show off your culinary prowess!
- Bring any beverages you want to enjoy
- Remember to label your foods with your name and any ingredients/dietary indications/allergens. Worry not – if you forget, we’ll have labeling supplies on site
CRAFT STATIONS:
- We know you’re all incredibly crafty and we would love to see you in action
- We’ll have some fun supplies: Pompoms? Random sparkly fabrics? Googly eyes? Sewing machines, hot glue guns? YOU GOT IT! And, definitely expect more.
- If you have crafting supplies you want to share, or would like to lead a small crafting project, LET US KNOW
CLOTHING SWAP:
- The Black Rock Boutique, your fashion HQ on playa since 1996, will be hosting a clothing swap from 2-5 PM during the event. There will be fabulous and show-stopping fashions donated from wonderful Burners such as yourself.
- Bring any old fits that you want to re-gift!
- Black Rock Boutique crew will be on site to give fashion advice and help you design the look you always wanted
TREASURE SWAP:
- Do you have kitchenware, functional electronics, backpacks, camping gear, tools or other useful items that might be collecting dust at home (yeah, not even on playa)? Bring them along!
- We will have an area designated for non-clothing items that could be someone’s newfound treasure. Please make sure that what you are bringing is in fact in good enough condition to be used. Any leftover items at the end of the event will be donated to a local charity/thrift store.
MUSIC:
- Come groove and dance to awesome beats by community DJs throughout the event!
- Every hour, a new DJ will be spinning and bringing the vibe
- If you are interested in DJing, please contact Anila (aka Ziptie) or Cloud (our music lead)
ART:
- The Mullet is a space to showcase your awesome, weird creations and maybe beta-test an art idea before you transform it into its ultimate evolution.
- Contact Anila if you have something you would like to share. Remember, your art is someone else’s inspiration to start that project they’ve been contemplating for a while. And your art can be the reason a lot of people smile.
So, what can you bring?
- Your own cup, plate/bowl & cutlery
- Food/snacks/drinks to share
- Clothing/treasures to swap
- Crafting supplies to share
- A camping chair to sit
- Your amazing spirit & ideas
