About this Event

The Prophet

One of the most beloved classics of our time, a collection of poetic essays that are philosophical, spiritual, and above all, inspirational.

Published in 1923, Gibran’s musings are divided into 28 chapters covering such sprawling topics as love, marriage, children, eating and drinking, pain, pleasure, religion and death. Each essay reveals deep insights into the impulses of the human heart and mind.

Teatro Pescadero

Dillon and Mehry founded Teatro Pescadero in October 2020, during a global pandemic, with the motto, “Theater of the intimate…at a safe distance.” Since then, they have performed their inaugural play, an adaptation of Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” over 100 times and in three different countries.

Based in Baja California Sur, Mexico, Teatro Pescadero’s repertoir includes a range of productions such as “Todos Santos Newsfeed: The Musical,” “Dillon on Dylan,” “Love in the Time of Corona,” and “Speedo Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.”

From parody to sincerity, poetic realism to campy musicals, Teatro Pescadero offers a diverse array of performances.

Dillon Porter

Dillon Porter is a writer, performer, and director based in Baja California Sur, Mexico. He graduated from Northwestern University and has performed at Steppenwolf, Goodman and Lookingglass Theaters in Chicago before making his Broadway debut alongside Rosie Perez in “The Ritz.” Dillon has also directed and produced “Shakespeare in the Club” at House of Yes in Brooklyn and adapted Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass into a one-man-show entitled “Trippin’ Whitman.” In addition to his stage work, he has acted in several films, including “Bastards y Diablos,” (available on Amazon Prime), which was produced on location in Colombia.

Mehry Eslaminia

Daughter to an Iranian father and El Salvadorian mother, Mehry Eslaminia is a professional actress based out of NYC and BCS, Mexico. Her work in the states spans regional theaters across the nation. Mehry had her Broadway debut in 2022 when she joined the all female, trans and non-binary revival of “1776.” Most recently she appeared in the West Coast Premier of Sanaz Toossi’s “English”, recipient of the Obie Award for Best New American Play and Pulitzer Award for Drama.
