About this Event
The workshop "The Power of Information in Communication" focuses on how the strategic control of information shapes perceptions and builds powerful narratives. Alessandro Nardone’s 2016 fake U.S. presidential candidacy, under the alias Alex Anderson, shows how a well-planned campaign can blur the lines between reality and fiction, captivating a global audience. This case illustrates how storytelling and media manipulation influence public opinion on a large scale.
Together with communication expert Leandro Diana, Nardone will explore key elements of this viral campaign and show how similar strategies were applied in other cases. For example, Volodymyr Zelensky’s 2019 presidential campaign, which took place almost entirely online, mirrored his previous role as a fictional president, reminiscent of "House of Cards." This blend of reality and fiction draws parallels to the 1998 film Wag the Dog, where media fabrications shape public opinion, making fiction seem more believable than reality.
This workshop offers essential insights for professionals and businesses seeking to understand how the tactics of information control in politics are now applied to branding and communication. Attendees will learn to create high-quality content that shapes perception, builds trust, and strategically navigates the line between truth and storytelling.
