Making a decision creates space – the space in which change can happen. Everything changes anyway – but when we make the decision ourselves, we set the direction. Normally, we spend a long time thinking about what we want to do. In doing so, we put pressure on ourselves and become more and more confused. But when we learn how to decide, that changes! As soon as we make a decision, the pressure lifts and we gain time. Every decision helps us to distinguish the essential from the non-essential. It creates energy and brings clarity to our daily routine.Every decision helps us to be in the here and now. When we decide, we think less about the past and the future. To make a decision, we must be in the present moment. And to be in the present moment, we must be conscious. Our focus shifts – from the desire to do something to the conscious awareness of the action itself. In order to do this, we learn to train our awareness – for example, through silence. When we are in silence, decisions reveal themselves clearly.
In this lecture, Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche will explain how important it is to recognize our true nature in order to live in harmony with our goals – and Tulku-la will talk about the power that lies in making a decision.
