Join the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice for a Distinguished Lecture with author Peace Adzo Medie. Peace Adzo Medie will speak on why creativity is important to building a more just world. Medie will share what she’s learned about bringing together academic research and creative endeavors to drive social change.
The first 100 guests to arrive will receive a free copy of one of Medie’s books, His Only Wife or Nightbloom.
Peace Adzo Medie is an award-winning scholar and Ghanaian writer. Her debut novel, His Only Wife, was a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, and a Time Magazine Must-Read Book of 2020. It was selected for the Reese’s Book Club. Her second novel, Nightbloom, was published in 2023 and was longlisted for the 2024 Women’s Prize for Fiction. Medie is Associate Professor in Politics at the University of Bristol in England. She studies state and non-state actors’ responses to gender-based violence and other forms of insecurity. Her book, Global Norms and Local Action: The Campaigns to End Violence Against Women in Africa, was a finalist for the Conflict Research Society Book of the Year Prize.
Check-in begins at 5:30 PM. Theater seating is general admission and available on a first-come, first-served basis. No guests will be admitted into the theater after 6:00pm. Please factor in 15 minutes to walk or take the tram from the West Parking Structure to the theater.
