Meerhof Education invites you to a unique workshop by Prof. Elio Minetti: The Tooth as a Graft Material.
Number of seats only 25!
Autologous dental-derived biomaterial: a revolutionary history, clinical and histological evaluations, and advantages In a historical period where natural choices remain preferable... why discard an extracted tooth? What if we could utilize it? In recent years, the use of tooth derivatives has been considered as one of the potential graft materials to address bone defects. But what are its actual potentials? Since 2014, a group from the University of Milan has been studying this methodology, yielding surprising results. The minute quantities of proteins present in the tooth, identical to those in bone, alongside autologous hydroxyapatite and collagen, constitute stimuli that make a difference during regeneration. It will be demonstrated how a patient's treated tooth allows for highly qualitative regenerations through histological and clinical analyses with follow-ups. Moreover, it can be preserved as an asset and a marketing tool.

This schedule outlines a comprehensive workshop on the utilization of extracted teeth as graft materials. Here's a breakdown of the topics covered:
9:00 - 10:00 Bibliography: Reviewing literature on the use of teeth as graft materials, starting from 1967. Analyzing various aspects of tooth material as grafts and
reconstructing articles to address arising questions for evaluating tooth use.
10:00 - 10:30 In vitro studies: Exploring the methodology and execution of studies derived from literature that led to the tooth transformer protocol.
10:30 - 11:00 Biology: Understanding the biological foundations of bone regeneration and how to surgically exploit them.
11:00 - 11:15 Coffee Break
11:15 - 11:45 Histology: Interpreting bone histology, what can be observed, histology from time-based samples, and insights gleaned from histological analyses.
11:45 - 12:30 Clinical cases: Reviewing initial clinical cases.
12:30 - 14:00 Lunch Break
14:00 - 15:30 Surgical techniques and the tooth transformer: Exploring various surgical techniques and their effectiveness with the tooth transformer. Examining flap closure, open
flap, pedunculated flap, ice cream cone, three membranes, periosteal inhibition, and their respective advantages or disadvantages with graft materials.
15:30 - 16:00 Literature review on the tooth transformer: Considering and analyzing individual articles related to the tooth transformer.
16:00 - 17:00 Tooth transformer mechanics and components: A demonstration of all parts of the tooth transformer, showcasing its mechanics and movements.
