About this Event
The Planets - Saturday Night
Dance Mojave is thrilled to announce we’ve received support from the 29 Palms Tourism Business Improvement District to produce THE PLANETS at the Sky’s the Limit Observatory this May!
This outdoor production pairs world-class live music and community-powered dance with the unparalleled night sky views in our beautiful desert. Enjoy an evening of dances celebrating Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune set to Holst’s “The Planets” alongside original music by Jeremie Levi Samson completing the suite for the Asteroid Belt and Pluto. And after the show, audience members can meet with astronomers on site with telescopes to view the sky!
This immersive 75-minute production will take place around the entire observatory campus. The audience will be free to walk around and relocate as the dances take place in different locations, allowing them to see the landscape and the production from multiple perspectives. Seating is available on-site but we recommend visitors bring their own light chair (or if needed or desired, we also recommend a walker with a seat – there is smooth pavement throughout the site).
Dance Mojave is grateful to be working with the local Tourism Board to bring more visitors to the area with this production. As part of our efforts, we will be looking to help out-of-town attendees make the most of their experience in Twentynine Palms. Visitors may wish to visit http://www.visit29.org/stay to find lodging nearby.
Ticketing for the event will be $30 per car – meaning more than one person can attend for that cost. This is to make sure we aren’t exceeding the venue’s parking capacity.
