This free educational concert is hosted by the New England Conservatory's Summer Orchestra Institute, where the Boston Festival Orchestra is serving as Ensemble-in-Residence. Students will be joined on stage by select BFO musicians, performing Gustav Holst's monumental ode to space, "The Planets." Occurring just one day before the 55th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, this extraordinary event explores the mystery and endlessness of space. The program, aptly named The Planets, showcases Gustav Holst's cosmic masterpiece alongside Kaija Saariaho's companion piece, "Asteroid 4179: Toutatis."
