Wycliffe Hall has set itself the modest task of fostering a New Renaissance of Christian scholarship, leadership and culture. About our guests
The Pitch want to help people as they strive to tell compelling stories. The awards they offer are one way they do this but they also try to share training, experience and encouragement from The Pitch team and fellow filmmakers. We will be joined by Pete Sinclair, Luke Walton, Lydia Taylor and Hatty Haines.
The Pitch is an adaptation challenge – a challenge based around this particular text. Or, really, a collection of texts: the Bible is a collection of books recounting the story of humanity’s relationship with God.
About The Inkeeper
When spirited eight-year-old Holly lands the part of Innkeeper in the school nativity play, she battles her perfectionist teacher who insists that she "stick to the script" and refuse Mary and Joseph a room.
Winner of The Pitch 2022, The Innkeeper follows Holly, a spirited eight-year-old who lands the role of the innkeeper in her class nativity play. Director Paudie Baggott brought Deegan’s script to life and shot the film in Dublin in 2022. Production support came from Reel Issues Films producer Luke Walton and Jackie Sheppard of Footprint Films, and production services were provided by Irish production company, Escape Pod Media.
About Hollow
Set on an impoverished council estate, Hollow tells the story of two lost souls: Laura Ryan, a struggling single mother consumed by grief at having lost her son to a drunk driver, and Father Hill, a racially abused local vicar, a man-on-the-edge with dwindling faith.
Winner of The Pitch 2019, Hollow follows a grieving mother as she considers taking revenge against the man who killed her child. Award-winning Bristol-based filmmaker Paul Holbrook directed the film in 2022 with Reel Issues Films producer Luke Walton and Jackie Sheppard of Footprint Films.
