It's not long until The Pinball Parlour's next monthly comp, which being on the 1st of March makes it our first Autumn tournament, which means a format change! I hope you're all ready for the most stress inducing format, the Flip Frenzy! Fast paced 1v1 matches where your wins minus your loses is your final score at the end of the 2.5 hours, with not a lot of down-time in those 2.5 hours. The top 16 players (may change depending on how many players there are) go into the finals, which is Group-Elimination Matchplay, 1 round on a random game, 1st and 2nd place move on, 3rd and 4th are OUT!We are using the DMDs and classics only for this comp, and I will drill this into your head until your ears bleed: The classics are OLD and RARE and EXPENSIVE and FRAGILE and ALL THE OTHER WORDS. PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH THEM!!! I didn't want the classics in because if anything happens to them, it's my head that rolls, but we need enough machines for a Flip Frenzy and I trust you all to be even more respectful than you usually are.
You all know the normal stuff, prize money for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and lucky last, BYO food and drink, NO alcohol! There will be no designated lunch break for people to leave the building during qualifying. A reminder that if there's any food left when I leave it will have to get tossed, which we haven't had to do yet! Another reminder that the diner booths are showroom items, not tables and chairs for you to eat on. I know the theming is great but it's not a real 50's diner! Pre-registeration is required, free practice from 11:30 is included, and the comp will start at 12pm and hopefully run to 4pm, not 5:30pm like last time 🫣
