Learn the tricks to making your very own delicious pies with the expert baking team of Honeypie Cafe & Bakeshop.
Just in time for your Derby Party! Join us in this special class to learn how to make some traditional Kentucky pies. This Pie Session is led by founder and Chief Executive Pie Officer, Valeri Lucks.
In this class we will learn to make:
- shortening-butter pie dough
- blind baked pie shells
- a bourbon custard pie filling and variations with chocolates and other nuts
- a bourbon fudge pie filling and it's many variations
We will bake 2 - 8" pies each - you choose your variations! Pies will be baked during class so you will have time for plenty of questions and answers and hanging out with your pie-loving friends. When pies are finished baking, you will have completed treats to take home. These pies will be great to save for your Derby Party or they can be frozen for another day.
Class is held inside the Honeypie Bakeshop kitchen located inside of our cafe, Palomino. Our hands-on classes are fun, full of learning and will give you a peek into the life of our bakeshop. This class is approximately 2.5-3 hours and is limited to 12 people. Class requires that you stand most of the time and work at a table in a working professional kitchen. We can make arrangements for a seated area for class - please let us know if you need this accomodation.
Tickets for class includes all of your ingredients, a recipe with tips and tricks and a drink ticket for the bar for a non-alcoholic beverage, a tap beer, rail cocktail or glass of wine.
(Please note, we often have long wait lists for our pie classes. Tickets to class are non-refundable if you cancel without more than 72 hours notice. If you need to cancel within 72 hours of class, you are welcome to email us, and we will offer your spot to a person on the waiting list. If it is taken by someone waiting, we will refund your ticket. You are also welcome to give your ticket to a friend and they can attend in your place.)
