On Thursday 19th February Nick Hatton, The Photo Detective will give a talk to Pocklington and District Local History Group.In the second half of the nineteenth century the art of photography surged in popularity. Everyone wanted their picture taken, leading to a rapid increase in the number of photographers . Initially, the studios were temporary and rudimentary, but eventually, permanent studios began to appear . Nick Hatton will use photographs from his own collection to show how to determine when and where a photograph was taken. He will show us what can we learn about the people pictured and their lives.
The talk will be in the Old Courthouse, George Street, Pocklington YO42 2DH at 7.30pm. All are welcome and there is an admission charge of £3
