About this Event
Join us for the one-day immersive bookbinding workshop with Nina Elder and Rory Sparks!
Date: March 29th
Time:10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Location: Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture
We are excited to welcome artists Nina Elder and Rory Sparks for a one-day workshop that delves into the geology of your inner world. Through creative expression, participants will be guided to explore questions like: What is your bedrock? What seismic shifts define your story? What dormant volcanoes or hidden fossils lie within?
Workshop Highlights:
- Creative Exploration: Participants will engage in spontaneous drawing, diagramming, collage, illustration, and field sketching, with writing prompts designed to spark poetic and personal narratives.
- Bookbinding with Mixed Media: Integrate artistic and written creations into a unique handmade book. Learn essential bookbinding techniques, including pop-up page creation, to add an interactive element to your book.
- Personal Reflection and Connection: Through this hands-on process, attendees will deepen their empathy for the geological world and build confidence in rapid-response creativity, leaving with a one-of-a-kind, personally meaningful book.
This workshop will be conducted both indoors and outdoors—please dress accordingly.
We are happy to accommodate all mobility needs.
No prior experience in geology, drawing, writing, or bookmaking is required!
If you have favorite tools or materials for mark-making, collage, or bookbinding, feel free to bring them.
All materials will be provided.
