Hank Lutton, Curator at the Grave Creek Mound Museum will discuss significant regional prehistoric ruins, landmarks, and archaeological sites which -- for whatever reason -- have been overlooked or ignored since they were initially reported, sometimes in the newspapers. Hank D. Lutton is a Registered Professional Archaeologist with twenty-five years of experience in field excavations, research, and collections management. He received a B.A. from the George Washington University which focused on political science, foreign affairs, and history. Hank received an M.A. in historical archaeology from the College of William & Mary and was a Presidential Teaching Fellow in the Archaeology Department at Boston University. He was an archaeologist for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and directed major urban excavations in Yorktown, Hampton, and Williamsburg, Virginia where he investigated colonial town formation and development. Since 2016, Hank has been a curator at Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex in Moundsville. In addition to preserving and interpreting Grave Creek Mound, he also curates West Virginia’s archaeological collection.
