The Performance Academy by Fluxx Æonic

Calling all Uncut Gems! The Performance Academy, hosted by at is great for a range of performers. From the rookie to show business or seasoned entertainer just wanting to experiment with a new act. This is for You!

What: Over the month of January 2026 you will learn a group number with other participants that will involve lipsync and choreography all while developing the stage persona and skillsharing throughout.

Who: This is great for adults with an interest in theatre, dance, MC, drag or character performance. Led by Fluxx Æonic, a local multi-dimensional artist, with a broad background in intertwining Science and Fashion.

Location: Downtown Dayton, Historic Arts District, near St. Ann's Historic Neighborhood, free parking - reach out via email to [email protected] for questions.

When/Time: Mondays in January, 6–8:30 PM. There will be optional time available for any extra group numbers and/or preparation for opt-in solo acts.

More of the Class:

• The Optional showcase will be held at MarYSoul Studio and themed: Staged For Takeoff: An ode to rising local artists in the birthplace of aviation. Although participation in the show is not necessary to participate in class, all students will be invited to perform the group number and a solo act during the show.

Whether or not you perform, you’ll be part of the celebration. Classes are welcoming to all levels and designed to prioritize creativity, accessibility, and empowerment - some have even referred to MarYSoul as their 3rd place, outside of home and work.

All Genders • All Abilities • All Bodies Welcome. Each week builds on the last, and step breakdowns are part of every class. If you’d like extra support, private sessions are also available.

Investment:

$60 for the full 4-week cohort. All funds, besides Eventbrite taxes ,support the facilitator and studio space. We thank you :)

Show Days are a fun night to showcase all your hard work during the First Friday Art Hops. We wncourge you to invite yoru family and friends. This will be a ticketed event. Students are encourged to sign up for a solo act!

Info: Modalities of Dance: Whether you are on stage, in the club, or in your bedroom, learn the fundamentals and tips to get your body to move in rhythm.

We will practice an Ecstatic Dance Session: This is to Overcome the fear of perception by dancing together to your favorite songs. The only rule is: Don’t. Stop. Moving.We will begin learning group number choreography and your homework is to Characterize Your Stage Persona

Info: Character Debut: Introduce your stage persona and drop in to their body. Learn how to walk in character and claim space on stage. We will Continue learning group number choreography.

Info: Creating an Act: Learn how to utilize lipsync, props, reveals, and build an audience reaction to enhance your performance. Start learning the lipsync portion for group choreography!

Info: This is a feedback session and place to share a concept for a solo act and receive feedback from the academy. Full dress rehearsal will be scheduled for February 2, 2026 6 - 9PM
