The People Speak
Info: The People Speak (TPS) is a two-day event that builds on the work of late historian Howard Zinn (1922-2010) to breathe life and energy into the extraordinary contributions of those who helped to create a refined vision for society and the world.
Day One (Voices) features a live stage presentation with a diverse cast of individuals reading excerpts from historically and culturally significant literature (ex., speeches, poems). A diverse assortment of orators will be invited to read brief excerpts (ex., letters, critical essays, speeches, poetry) from various historical figures. Invited readers will include faculty, staff, students, community partners, artists, activists, and young people from various backgrounds and fields. TPS Day One will conclude with a live music set featuring the Rob Dixon Quintet.
Day Two (Visions) features invited scholars and public intellectuals in a dynamic assortment of breakout sessions, panel discussions, and mini keynotes that build on our central theme.
