Auditions: Sunday, July 7th at 7pm and Monday, July 8th at 7pm (you only need to attend one night of auditions)
All auditioners should bring a prepared musical theatre song (32 bars). Please bring sheet music with any cuts marked. An accompanist will be provided.
Auditions will be lengthy. In an effort to be efficient, auditions will follow the order of events below:
- All auditioners will sing first.
- Then a dance combination will be taught, and then performed in small groups.
- The evening will conclude with cold reads. Sides will be provided at the audition.
The production team does not anticipate the need for a callback. If such a need should arise, auditioners will be contacted on an individual basis.
Role Descriptions:
“Babe” Williams (F, 25-40)
The leader of the Union Grievance Committee, who against her own will at first, falls in love with Sid. Strong, feisty, a little stubborn, and full of pride for the union. The unspoken leader of the workers and women who work at the factory. Heavy vocal role with strong mix.

Sid Sorokin (M, 25 - 45)
New superintendent at Sleep Tite who falls in love with Babe, despite their being on opposite sides of the labor dispute. He is a charming, productive worker. Adamant about retaining his job and improving his job performance.

Gladys Hotchkiss (F, 20 - 35)
Mr. Hasler’s quick-witted secretary. A party girl, her sexy demeanor often lands her in hot water with men. She dates Hines and is chased by Prez. Gladys is an excellent dancer. (Vocal range top: Eb5- Ab3)
Myron Hasler (M, 50 - 70)
Non-singing. The president at Sleep Tite. Fiscally conservative, he is demanding, stubborn, and uptight and keeps a secret.
Prez (M, Any age)
President of the union at Sleep Tite. A notorious flirt and womanizer who constantly regrets his marriage. (Vocal range top: F#4-Db3)
Hines (M, 30 - 50)
Time study man at Sleep Tite who thinks Gladys flirts too much. He is the jealous type, but has a kind heart and a talent in knife-throwing. Surprisingly soft around the edges.

Mabel (F, 40 - 65)
Earnestness can occasionally melt into crassness, but she is always very aware of the happenings at Sleep Tite. (Vocal range top: F5-B3)
Pop (M, 45 – 65)
Non-Singing. Babe's agreeable father.
