UPDATE: The 2025 Pagan and Heathen Iceland Tour is sold out at this time. Please email GlasseWitchCottage(at)gmail(dot)com to be placed on the waiting list. Based on the response, we will offer this package again in the future. Explore the land of ice and fire in a spirit of pilgrimage. Iceland is famous for its stunning natural beauty, but there’s more to experience than waterfalls and glaciers: Heathen history in Iceland runs deep. This ever-changing, dynamic land Christianized late (and not very thoroughly). Tales of trolls, hidden people, witchcraft, and more abound. Although many tours of Iceland are available, few focus on spiritual connection, Pagan and Heathen history, and folklore. This tour is designed to do exactly that.
Tour dates:
Base Tour Package: August 22nd – 30th, 2025
Extension Package through September 2nd, 2025
Our Pagan and Heathen tour is paced more slowly than other commercially available tours and is designed for a small group. The maximum number of travelers is 18, including your guides. Rather than trying to cram in as many sights as possible, we will take time to connect and immerse while still exploring the beautiful geography and fascinating history of Iceland. Our journey takes us from Reyjkavík up the western coast to Akureyri and the glories of northern Iceland. An optional three day extension tour focuses on the southern coast.
We will visit sites of exceptional beauty: powerful waterfalls, geysers, towering mountains, and seaside villages. We will connect with Heathen history and Icelandic folklore at different museums, living history exhibits, and historic sites. Each day will include an intention circle before departure and a closing circle before bedtime. Ceremonies are planned for different sites to honor the spirits that dwell there and the thread of history and myth that connects us.
Your guides on this journey are Irene and Ash Glasse. Irene is a Pagan event organizer, teacher, writer, and community coordinator in the Western Maryland area. Ash is the gothar (spiritual leader) of Elk Ridge Kindred, an inclusive Heathen kindred based in the Frederick, MD, region. Together, they bring logistical skills, spiritual connection, and a deep grounding in Heathen history and lore to the tour.
The tour package includes transportation, lodgings, breakfast every day at the hotel we are staying in, admission to all listed museums, living history sites, and other cultural attractions, and trip insurance. The package does not include airfare, other meals, or optional add-ons like geothermal spas or museums not covered in the tour itinerary.
***This tour is limited to adults over the age of 21 who are inclusive. Discrimination on the basis of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, or other protected category is strictly prohibited.
Registration is open until April 30th, 2024, or until the tour fills. Please email GlasseWitchCottage(at)gmail(dot)com for the full tour itinerary and details.
