Presented by: Chris PadgettCemeteries are not only places of rest; they are archives of personal stories, family traditions, and local history. For Kentucky genealogical researchers, a visit to a cemetery can open a window into the past, revealing details often absent from traditional records. The PADGETT Methodology provides a systematic framework for this work—Pre-Field, Arrive & Document, Decode Gravestones, Gather & Correlate, Establish Context, Trace with Mapping, and Tell & Preserve—helping researchers uncover, interpret, and safeguard the stories that rest beneath Kentucky soil.
An 8th generation Kentuckian, Christopher Padgett has devoted over a decade to uncovering and preserving the rich legacy of Kentucky family history. A former president of the Kentucky Genealogical Society (2020–2023), he has become a trusted voice in Kentucky genealogical ecosystem – speaking, writing, and collaborating with others on numerous projects, all with the ultimate goal of making Kentucky’s rich heritage more accessible and empowering family historians to connect with their ancestral roots for generations to come. His efforts ignite a passion in family historians, encouraging them to explore their roots and honor the enduring legacies of those who came before us.
