Once again, Wednesday Open Words with Orlando Poetry Slam present, The Open Words Slam! In lieu of the usual open mic, poets will be allowed to compete for cash prizes and dubious glory. Enjoy from the audience or step behind the mic and share your truth.
Members from the audience in the "splash zone" will be given flowers to throw on the stage when they feel moved by a poets performance. This means anyone can be a judge tonight!

RULES
List opens 8pm, Slam starts at 9pm!!
-New Piece Rule! All poems in the first round must be new or unscored in our slams.
-Members from the audience will be given flowers that count as points. During and/or at the end of a poets performance, they may throw the flowers on the stage. The flowers will be collected, counted, and recorded as the poet's score for the round.
-You will need 2 poems to compete.
1st Round: 12 poets max,
5 highest scoring poets advance to 2nd Round. Highest scoring poet in the second round will be declared the winner.
-Content must be original. No props, no costumes or musical accompaniment.
3:10 minute time limit, full point deduction for every second over.
All rules subject to adjustment based on number of competitors and available judges, however all participants will be notified of any significant changes.
There will be an open mic after for those who wish to participate but not compete.
