About this Event

MARBLING

Saturday March 08, 2025

10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (lunch break around noon)

This course is for beginners or if you enjoyed it in past workshops. You will learn how to lay the paint in the bath and the different comb combinations. The goal is to teach you how to successfully lay and pull a page from the bath to create paper that can be used in your own projects. Information and technique to prepare paper for marbling and preparing the bath will also be discussed. This course does not teach about the history of paper marbling – it is a hands-on experience for experimenting. We will also try a few specialized techniques, like over marbling, once the basics have been explored.

Participants will complete many pages of marbled decorated paper to take home and use in their own projects. You will learn several different techniques, exploring how the different combs work to make different patterns.

Participants will also assist with clean-up of their station, so we will leave time at the end of the day for this. It also provides time for your last pages to dry before you leave. Bags will be provided for your finished work.

Note: There is a lot of paper being dried and assisting with keeping this in order will also be needed. We make it fun and part of the process.

We have aprons for everyone and tarp the floor in the lab, but things can get slippery and a bit messy. Please wear shoes (with a good grip) and clothing you don’t mind getting paint or liquid on. Some pages may not be completely dried at the end of day, large plastic bags will be provided for transportation.

Suitable for beginners and all experience levels.

Materials costs are $10 included in the workshop fees.

Notes:

Registration closes March 01, 2025 @ 11:30PM

Participant-requested cancellations will be accepted up to 3 days prior to the published cut-off date for registration and will be subject to a 10% cancellation fee (a minimum of $5). After that, the full fee will be forfeited. In the event of the workshop being cancelled by CBBAG, the workshop fee will be fully refunded.
